Children grow quickly and no two are alike, so choosing kids' clothes by age alone often goes wrong. This guide shows a better way to pick the size and the fabric.
1. Use measurements, not age
Two children of the same age can be two or three sizes apart. Measure your child instead:
- Height: standing straight, without shoes.
- Chest: around the fullest part of the chest.
- Waist: around the natural waist, for trousers and skirts.
Then compare the numbers with the size table in centimetres on the product page. Our size guide explains how to read it.
2. Between two sizes?
Choose the larger one. Children grow, and a little extra room is more comfortable and lasts longer. Roll up the sleeves or the hems for now if you need to.
3. Check an item they already own
If you are unsure, lay a well-fitting garment flat and measure it across the chest and along the length. Compare those numbers with the garment measurements in the table.
4. Choose the right fabric
- Soft, breathable cotton is the best choice for everyday wear and for sensitive skin. Many of the Angelo t-shirts are listed as 95% cotton with 5% lycra, for example the Neutral Vibe and the Junior Blank.
- Cotton blends are fine for dresses and special outfits. The Clara dress is listed as 65% cotton and 35% polyester.
- Check the composition on each product page. It is always written there.
5. Washing kids' clothes
- Wash cold or at around 30°C, inside out, to protect prints.
- Use a gentle amount of detergent and rinse well.
- Dry in the shade. High heat can shrink cotton, and children's clothes are often washed a lot.
