Oversized T-Shirts: How They Should Fit and How to Size Them

Oversized t-shirts are cut larger than the body on purpose: dropped shoulders, a wider chest and more length. They look relaxed and modern, but only if you pick the right size. This guide explains how.

1. What makes a t-shirt oversized

  • Dropped shoulders: the seam sits below the point of your shoulder.
  • A wide, boxy body: there is extra room at the chest and waist.
  • Extra length: the hem falls below the hip.

2. Which size to choose

The piece is already cut large, so most people take their usual size and get the intended look. Sizing up gives you an even baggier result, and it is a matter of taste.

Look at the shoulder width and length in the size table, not only the chest. If the shoulder is far wider than yours and the length reaches your thigh, you will be swimming in it. Our size guide shows how to compare the table with your body.

3. Cotton, and why it matters

An oversized cut hangs from the shoulders, so the fabric needs enough body to hold its shape without looking limp. Cotton breathes well in hot weather. See the K-Oversize, the Shadow Dye and the Raw Edition, which is listed as 100% cotton.

4. How to wear it

  • With slim or straight trousers so the top is the loose part of the outfit.
  • With shorts in summer. A longer tee with shorts is a very easy combination.
  • With a zip jacket on top when the weather turns.
  • Tuck in the front only if you want a defined waist.

5. Washing and shrinkage

Cotton can shrink a little the first few times, mostly in length. Wash cold, inside out, and dry in the shade. Avoid the tumble dryer to protect both the size and any print.
